Police ordered to register money laundering cases against wanted and absconding suspects on drug trafficking list
The Special Branch gave a detailed briefing on the drug mafias and the suspects involved in their nexus and the police action against them.
Karachi (Crime Reporter) During a meeting held at the Central Police Office Karachi under the chairmanship of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, a comprehensive review of the police measures taken to eliminate drug mafias and gangs in the province was held and further instructions were given. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Karachi, DIGs, Crime and Investigations, Headquarters, Special Branch, IA, Investigations Karachi, IT, Zonal Divisional DIGs, District SSPs and SPs Investigations. IG Sindh gave instructions that the police should register money laundering cases against the wanted and absconding accused in the list of drug dealers and take steps to arrest them by issuing red warrants. He said that commendation should be given for excellent performance against crimes, while written departmental memoranda should be made for unsatisfactory and poor performance. In addition, according to the lists of drug peddlers of categories A, B and C compiled by the Special Branch, the district police should ensure strict action against drug mafias in the relevant cities, including around educational institutions. On this occasion, DIG Special Branch gave a detailed briefing about the drug mafias and the accused involved in their nexus in the province and the police action against them, while AIG Operations informed about the blocked, arrested and absconding accused involved in drug trafficking. Additional IG Karachi said that there is a need to tighten the noose around the families of absconding accused abroad who are involved in drug trafficking. While the results of the operations against drug mafias have also come to light in the past. IG Sindh further instructed the meeting that the police crackdown against drug mafias should be further accelerated so that the results of the police operations and the armed force of the action against drug mafias can be felt by the public and the institution. He said that by the meeting to be held next week, all district officers will submit their reports on the actions taken against drug mafias and their nexus and the punishments for their review. In addition, the Special Branch, DIG Headquarters and AIG Operations should also clarify the boundaries of police stations in the list of drug mafias, with the aim of making police action against such mafias effective and successful at the police station level. He said that experienced and expert investigation officers should be appointed to investigate drug cases and cases based on solid evidence should be presented in court. In addition, money laundering cases should be prepared against drug peddlers who are included or not in the drug trafficking lists and sent to the FIA. He gave instructions that a contingency plan including foolproof security should be prepared on the occasion of Eid 2025 and other things should be presented for review. Meanwhile, action should be taken and investigations should be conducted against the accused involved in cattle theft last year to ensure prevention of cattle theft incidents.
