Actress Humaira Asghar’s body handed over to family, reports of parents’ estrangement denied
The body of actress Humaira Asghar was received by her brother.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, the actress’s brother Naveed said, “Before handing over any body to the family, legal formalities are completed. The news that we refused to receive the body is false. I came here with my father’s permission to collect my sister’s remains.”
He explained that a few months ago their paternal aunt was in a road accident and went into a coma. She passed away last month, leaving their parents deeply distressed. “During this time, the sudden incident with my sister happened, and the media repeatedly called my parents, adding to their anxiety. When my father was repeatedly contacted, he said if there was an emergency, proceed with the burial. My mother, however, was extremely upset, and we then coordinated with the authorities, came to Karachi, and collected my sister’s body,” he said.
Naveed clarified that the misunderstanding about their parents refusing the body was false and requested the media not to spread such misleading news.
In response to a question, he said, “We completed the legal procedures and collected our sister’s remains. Once the forensic report details are available, we will take further action.”
Regarding Humaira Asghar’s relationship with the family, he said there wasn’t much contact. “She was independent and self-reliant. She moved to Karachi of her own choice. Like any parents, ours would ask her why she was late coming home, and she would often say, ‘I am responsible for my own matters.’ We gave her the freedom to live her life as she wished.”
He revealed that the family had no contact with her for the past year and a half. However, their late mother would often ask about her whereabouts. *“When Humaira’s phone was switched off, my mother told me she couldn’t reach her. We tried to contact her but failed. We even reached out to two of her
