After the election of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, the Pakistan Peoples Party has initiated the process of appointing a new IG of Azad Kashmir, sending the name of a senior Sindh Police officer.

The PPP has recommended the name of senior Sindh Police officer Irfan Ali Baloch to the federal government for the new IG Azad Kashmir. Irfan Baloch, a Grade 20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan and a resident of Shikarpur, is considered an expert in controlling specific situations of unrest. After Irfan Baloch’s appointment as IG Azad Kashmir, DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider is likely to be appointed as DIG West.
In case of Muqaddas Haider's appointment as DIG West, DG Safe City Authority Asif Ijaz Sheikh may be appointed as DIG CIA, sources say.

After the formation of the PPP government in Azad Kashmir, preparations for large-scale administrative changes have been completed. Senior Sindh Police officer and DIG West Irfan Baloch has been nominated for the post of IG Azad Kashmir, while Muqaddas Haider has emerged as the strongest candidate for DI West. According to details, senior Sindh police officer Irfan Ali Baloch has been recommended to the federal government for the appointment of the new Inspector General (IG) of Police of Azad Kashmir. After the election of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, the Pakistan People’s Party initiated the process of appointing the new IG, and Irfan Ali Baloch’s name was selected from two senior Sindh Police officers. Irfan Ali Baloch, a Grade 20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, is currently posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police in Karachi’s West Zone. Irfan Ali Baloch, a resident of Shikarpur, is considered an expert in controlling specific situations of unrest and has also served as DIG in Karachi’s South Zone. Irfan Ali Baloch gained fame for his unique approach to controlling unrest and street crime during his appointment as Senior Superintendent of Police Hyderabad. On the other hand, in the event of Irfan Baloch's appointment as IG Azad Kashmir, the race for DIGs is already underway even before the post of DIG West becomes vacant. Every officer is active in getting the post. Muqaddas Haider is the strongest candidate for DIG West, who is currently posted as DIG CIA. Sources say that Muqaddas Haider has the full support of the ruling party of Sindh. Sources have claimed that in the event of DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider's appointment as DIG West, DG Safe City Authority Asif Ijaz Sheikh is likely to be posted as DIG CIA.
