FBR Launches Crackdown on Unregistered Aesthetic Clinics and Beauty Doctors

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has intensified its efforts to bring undocumented businesses into the tax net, launching a major crackdown against aesthetic clinics and beauty doctors operating without proper tax registration.

According to reports, several doctors involved in cosmetic and aesthetic treatment services have come under the scrutiny of tax authorities. The FBR has identified a number of clinics allegedly generating substantial income while remaining outside the formal tax system. Authorities believe that some practitioners have failed to declare their actual earnings despite offering high-demand and high-cost cosmetic procedures.

As part of the operation, the FBR has issued notices and initiated legal proceedings against individuals and businesses suspected of tax evasion. Officials say the action is aimed at ensuring transparency in the healthcare and cosmetic treatment sector and increasing tax compliance among professionals earning significant revenues.

The move comes as the government continues efforts to broaden the tax base and document sectors that have traditionally remained underregulated. Aesthetic medicine has experienced rapid growth in recent years, with clinics offering services such as skin treatments, cosmetic enhancements, laser procedures, and other beauty-related medical services.

Tax experts note that bringing such businesses into the tax net could help increase government revenue while creating a fair business environment for those already complying with tax laws.

The FBR has warned that businesses found violating tax regulations may face penalties, audits, and further legal action. Officials have also urged medical practitioners and clinic owners to ensure their tax records are accurate and up to date to avoid enforcement measures.

The crackdown is being viewed as part of a broader campaign by the tax authority to document high-income sectors and strengthen revenue collection across the country.
