Former IG Sindh Riffat Mukhtar Appointed DG FIA; Imran Yaqoob Becomes Member Prime Minister Inspection Commission
Karachi – Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Riffat Mukhtar, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The federal government confirmed this major appointment, while also announcing that former IG Punjab Imran Yaqoob Minhas has been appointed as a member of the Prime Minister's Inspection Commission.
Riffat Mukhtar, a Grade 22 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has served in various senior positions, including as Additional IG and DIG in multiple provinces. His latest assignment as DG FIA places him in a key federal law enforcement role.
Meanwhile, Imran Yaqoob, also a Grade 22 officer and known for his significant contributions in Punjab and federal policing services, has taken on responsibilities within the PM's Inspection Commission—a prestigious body overseeing transparency and administrative accountability across departments.
Both appointments reflect the federal government's ongoing efforts to bring experienced and senior officers into top administrative and law enforcement positions.
