Headline: Mafia Behind Gambling Operations in Malir, Police Accused of Monthly Bribes

Karachi: In the Malir area of Karachi, a powerful gambling mafia continues to operate freely, allegedly with police protection. Reports reveal that the police are accepting large monthly bribes — running into lakhs of rupees — to allow these illegal activities to flourish. The issue persists even during the holy month of Ramadan, when police are expected to intensify crackdowns on such crimes.

Sources indicate that Malir’s gambling dens are operating under the supervision of local police stations, with station house officers (SHOs) allegedly collecting fixed payments to turn a blind eye. Despite repeated public complaints, no action has been taken, and the illegal gambling continues unabated.

Local citizens are demanding immediate intervention and a special operation to dismantle the mafia. They have appealed to higher authorities, including the Sindh IG, to launch a strict crackdown on gambling dens in Malir and hold those responsible accountable.

The growing influence of the gambling mafia and its links with law enforcement have raised serious concerns about corruption and public safety in the region.
