Nine percent of promotions of top police officers postponed

The proposal to remove officers who have served for 10 years or more is not ready to release their officers under any circumstances, an inside story has also come to light. (There should be no delay, notifications should be issued immediately. Despite the clear instructions of the Prime Minister, the notification could not be issued till now due to the insistence of not transferring officers to other provinces.)

Those promoted to Grade 21 included Zulfiqar Lark, Azad Khan, Sharjeel Kharal and Iqbal Dara, while those promoted to Grade 20 included Faisal Bashir Memon, Shaukat Khatian, Abbas Rizvi, Farrukh Najjar, Shiraz Nazir and Shad Ibne Saih and others.

A few months ago, on March 5 and 13, a meeting of the High Power Board and the Central Selection Board was held for the promotion of senior government officers from grades 18 to 22 to the next positions. In this meeting, officers from all over the country including Sindh were promoted. Some officers were also deferred and some were superseded. These included senior police officers from all over Pakistan including Sindh. Zulfiqar Lark, Azad Khan, Sharjeel Kharal and Iqbal Dara of Sindh Police were promoted to the post of Additional IG in Grade 21, while other senior police officers including Faisal Bashir Memon, Shaukat Khatian, Abbas Rizvi, Farrukh Najjar, Sher-e-Nazir and Shad Ibn Sahih were promoted to Grade 19 to 20. After this, it was hoped that the notifications of the promotions of these officers would be issued with postings in a few days, which could not be issued even after two months, while the notifications of other Secretariat Group and DMG Group were issued. Along with this, several officers including IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon were also promoted from Grade 21 to Grade 22, for whom notifications have been issued. However, senior police officers are still waiting to see when their promotions will be notified and they will assume their responsibilities in their next positions. The inside story behind the lack of notification of these officers is that sources say that initially it was decided that the officers who have been promoted will be posted in other provinces under the rotation policy, but there was resistance from the provinces, after which Establishment Advisor Ahad Cheema suggested that officers who have been in their provinces for ten years or more should be removed and posted in other provinces. However, sources say that Sindh and Punjab flatly refused to send their respective police officers to other provinces, saying that these are their qualified and capable officers. They will not be sent outside their province, which has created another "rolla". After this, Ahad Cheema left for Hajj and has now returned. Sources say that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has clear instructions that there should be no delay or hesitation in issuing notifications for those who have been promoted and that the notifications should be issued immediately. However, due to the stubbornness of the officers not to transfer to other provinces, the notifications have not been issued yet, which is causing concern at the provincial level, while senior police officers also seem restless. Now it remains to be seen which way the camel sits.
