A constitutional petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court under Article 199 of the Constitution, in which the Chief Secretary, IG Sindh, and 14 acting SPs including the Karachi Police Chief have also been made parties. The petition has raised several questions about assigning additional charges to juniors despite the presence of senior officers. According to the petitioner, it is legal for juniors to take additional charges and hold positions in the presence of seniors because senior officers are waiting for appointment because many posts are vacant. All officers holding additional charges have been made parties in the petition. Gulshan Iqbal, Jamshed A petition has been filed against 14 SPs of the city, including Quarter, Malir, Gadap, Landhi, New Karachi, Mangho Pir, Site, Garden, Saddar, including Ahmed Iqbal Memon, Umair Tariq Bajari, Mansoor Ali, Syed Zulfiqar Haider Jafri, Majida Parveen Halipoto, Masroor Ahmed Jatoi Muhammad Safdar, Imran Khan Jagirani, Syed Qaiser Ali Shah Muhammad Nawaz, Abdul Khaliq Wagun, and Zain Raza Baloch. All the above-mentioned officers are SDPs and have been posted as SPs of several divisions. The petitioner has requested the court to declare all appointments made in violation of the constitution and law in the Sindh Police null and void, and to ensure the posting of legally qualified officers.
